A Walk a Day Keeps the Stress Away

Yesterday was a good day. It started off with writing a post for a blog, then lunch with a friend, then back home, crossed some things off the good ole to-do list, and then I started to work on a project.

From that point on I got stressed. I spent probably 2 hours on this project and I got absolutely nowhere. It turned a good day into a really bad day. At that point, I decided, it wasn’t worth it. So I talked to my wife and we decided to go on a Walk. That was by far the best decision I made that day! Along the walk I discovered three things:

  • I was no longer thinking about Work. The first thing I noticed was as soon as we reached the end of our driveway, the stress gradually started to slip away. I was no longer thinking about the project, in fact, work wasn’t on my mind at all. Our conversation switched from work, to personal life almost instantly!
  • Working from home can make it hard to leave work behind. If you work at an office you have the commute home to transition. My commute consists of getting up from the computer and walking into the kitchen. It’s definitely not long enough to transition my mind from “Work mode” to “Husband Mode”.
  • A walk a day keeps the stress away! Having such a great walk made Windy and I decide that we’re going to take a walk once a day after work. Its going to be our daily commute from work to home where we leave the stress at work, and

After getting home from our walk, Windy and I had left work mode completely and we were ready to invest in each other. All that to say, A walk a day keeps the stress away.
